Frequently Asked Questions
🛍️ Choosing the Right Product
Which heated product is right for me?
It depends on what you want to keep warm and where you'll wear it:
- Cold core, back or shoulders: a heated vest is the most popular pick — layers under coats or wears solo indoors.
- Full-body outdoor warmth: a heated jacket with hood and sleeves for serious cold.
- Cold feet: heated socks for hunting, fishing, skiing or work boots.
- Indoor comfort: heated slippers for chilly floors and home offices.
- Neck-only warmth: a heated scarf for commutes, dog walks or as a gift.
What is the difference between 9-zone and 15 zone heated vests?
The 9-zone version focuses heat on the core (collar, chest pockets, upper back, lumbar). The 15-zone version adds extra coverage across the back for more even, full-body warmth. If you mainly want quick core warmth at a friendlier price, go with the 9-zone. If you spend long hours outdoors in serious cold, the 15-zone is worth the upgrade.
What's the difference between a heated puffer vest, softshell vest and fleece gilet?
Puffer vest: Down Cotton insulated, warmest of the three, wind- and water-resistant. Best for static outdoor activity such as hunting, ice fishing or watching a game.
Softshell vest: stretchy and breathable, water-resistant fabric without insulation. Best for active use where you don't want bulk.
Fleece gilet: soft, lightweight mid-layer. Wears under a coat for extra core warmth or solo indoors and in autumn.
What's the difference between a heated puffer vest, softshell vest and fleece gilet?
All the products are not included the battery, You will need to purchase the battery separately on our Battery & Charger collection .
🔋 Battery & Power
How long does a heated apparel battery last?
Typical runtime per full charge depends on heat level and battery size:
- 10000mAh on a 5V vest: about 2.5 hours on High, 3 hours on Medium, up to 4 hours on Low.
- 20000mAh battery: roughly twice that — a full work day on Low.
- 5000mAh on socks, scarves or gloves: about 3 hours on High, up to 6 hours on Low.
Exact runtime is listed on each product page.
Will the battery still work in very cold weather?
Yes, but expect somewhat reduced runtime below freezing — this is normal for all lithium-ion batteries. Keep the battery in an inside pocket close to your body, fully charge it before heading out, and start on a higher heat setting to warm the battery before dropping to Low.
How long does it take to fully charge the battery?
Roughly 7-8 hours for a 10000mAh battery and 10-12 hours for a 20000mAh battery. Firoth batteries are designed without fast-charging to extend battery lifespan and improve safety. We recommend charging overnight before a full day of use.
Can I use my own USB power bank with a "battery not included" product?
Yes — for 5V products, any standard USB-A power bank with at least 2A output will work. We recommend at least 10000mAh for a full day of warmth. For best results see our Firoth 5V 10000mAh Power Bank.
Can I take the battery on a plane?
It depends on the watt-hour (Wh) rating:
Under 100Wh: normally allowed in carry-on without prior approval — this covers our 5,000mAh, 10,000mAh and most 7.4V batteries.
100-160Wh: usually requires airline approval. Our 12V 20,000mAh battery may exceed this.
Lithium batteries must travel in carry-on, never checked luggage.
Always check your airline's latest policy before flying.
📏 Sizing & Fit
How do I choose the right size?
Each product page has its own size chart with chest, waist and length measurements. Measure yourself with a soft tape over a thin t-shirt. If you're between two sizes: choose the smaller size for a fitted look worn solo, or the larger size if layering over a sweater.
Can I wear a heated vest under a winter coat?
We offer a 30-day refund and 30-day exchange on all heated apparel. Items must be returned in original condition with all accessories. See our Return Policy.
🔥 Heating Performance
How hot do Firoth heated products get?
Maximum temperatures vary by product and heat level:
- Heated vests & jackets: roughly 95°F (35°C) on Low up to 131°F (55°C) on High.
- Heated scarves: 122°F (50°C) Low to 140°F (60°C) High.
- Heated slippers: 113°F (45°C) Low to 149°F (65°C) High at the sole.
Always start on Low and step up if you want more warmth.
How fast does it heat up?
Most products warm up noticeably within 10-30 seconds on High and reach peak temperature within 2-3 minutes. Carbon-fiber heating elements heat much faster than traditional resistance wires.
Which heat zones get warmed?
Heat zone locations depend on the product:
- Vests & jackets: chest pockets, collar, upper back and lumbar; some models add shoulders.
- 360° socks: top of foot, sole and toes.
- Standard socks: top of foot and toes.
- Slippers: wraparound from toes to sole.
- Scarves: back of neck.
- Gloves: back of hand and fingertips.
Will a heated vest keep me warm at 0°F / -18°C?
Yes — paired with appropriate base layers and an outer shell, our heated vests and jackets work well at sub-zero temperatures. Start on High to warm up, then drop to Medium or Low for steady runtime. Our 12V 15-zone vests deliver the most warmth for serious cold.
Can I control different heating zones separately?
Yes — most of our heated vests, jackets and fleece gilets have dual independent controls, so you can set the upper-body heat differently from the lower-body heat.
🧼 Care & Washing
Can I machine wash my heated vest, jacket or socks?
Yes — all Firoth heated apparel is machine washable, but you must:
- Remove the battery and disconnect USB cables first.
- Use the gentle / delicate cycle with cold water.
- Place the item in a mesh laundry bag.
- Use mild detergent — no bleach.
- Air dry only — never tumble dry.
Hand washing is the gentlest option and extends the life of the heating elements.
Can I iron it?
No — do not iron the heating area, as direct high heat can damage the carbon-fiber elements. Use a clothing steamer at low temperature instead, avoiding the heating zones.
How do I store my heated apparel in the off-season?
Wash and fully dry the garment, then store it folded in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Store the battery separately at about 50% charge and top it up every 3-4 months to keep the cells healthy.
How do I clean heated slippers or the hand warmer pouch?
Remove the battery first, then spot-clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Air dry. Do not soak or machine wash.
🛡️ Safety
Is heated apparel safe to wear?
Yes. Firoth heated apparel runs on safe low-voltage rechargeable 5V battery. Every battery has built-in safeguards against over-current, overheating, overcharging and short-circuiting, and our batteries use UL-certified Li-ion cells.
Can I wear it in the rain or snow?
Most of our heated vests and jackets are water-resistant — fine for light rain, snow, dog walks and outdoor work. For sustained heavy rain, wear a waterproof outer shell over the heated layer. Never submerge heated apparel in water.
Can I use heated apparel if I'm pregnant, have a pacemaker, or a medical condition?
We recommend consulting your healthcare provider before using heated apparel if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, diabetes, reduced sensitivity to heat, or any other medical condition. We do not make medical claims about our products; they are designed to provide gentle warmth for general comfort use.
